Daily Duties at Sony Electronics Inc:

Manage VAIO product quality by building test teams that took EVT/DVT/PVT (Evaluation/Development/Pre-Production Systems) and installed Operation System, drivers, utlities, software applications and ran it through testing to verify that what was supposed to be there was there, what was there worked well and the overall system worked as expected. Recruited, hired and managed several different teams under the umbrella of VAIO testing over the past 13 years. Developed Battery testing process for US market that is now working for US, Canada, Latin America and European Markets. Continue to work on improving the process by changes within our product. Helped investigate and defend against 2 lawsuits regarding VAIO products, battery life and floppy disk technology. Investigated the what testing was going on regarding battery life assessment and developed a Sony methodology. Investigated floppy disk errors and wrote a batch file that attempted to force a failure in the copying of data when simply copying a file. Managed a small team that provided testing for the Sony Nav-U testing (GPS) across the US, Canada and Mexico. Built the organization from scratch which included setting testing process, managing travel and expenses, working on cooperative test plan and test cases, staffing the team, negotiating billing rates and managing other expenses. Lead the launch of VAIO systems with Windows XP, Vista and Windows 7. Managed groups as small as one person to as many as 55 (15 employees and 40 contractors). Responsible for recruiting for both full time and contract positions. Included writing job postings, defining responsibilities, negotiating salaries and some benefits. Worked with Internal HR as well as with contracting agencies. Reviewed resumes and interviewed all candidates. Worked with staffing agencies to provide contractors and negotiated reduced billing rates in some instances. Developed goals both personal and team goals and then measured people through a performance review process to establish performance. Within a budget guideline, made salary adjustments as well as paid out bonuses. Wrote requirements for internally developed systems including defect databases. Provided resources to QA new systems. Was tasked with reorganizing testing resources based on skills, costs and needs to improve efficiency of overall operations on several occasions.
