Daily Duties at Military Sealift Command, Us Navy:
As a Port Engineer for The Military Sealift Command, I attain experience in organizing, inspecting and determining ship repair needs on a day to day basis. I had sole government responsibility and authority to assess repairs, oversee outside sub contractors for specification compliance, approve change orders and sign off on job completion which allowed payment for each job. In addition, since the ship was being manned by merchant mariners under a primary contracted- operating company, I monitored both groups for overall contract compliance and compliance with Coast Guard, OSHA and ABS regulations. This oversight was applicable for Dock trials, sea trials and three Ship overhauls, where I had sole sign off authority on three million dollar contracts.
What they like about Military Sealift Command, Us Navy:
The social vibrance of a hiring firm is very important to you. Your ability to make and maintain friendships there is a critical part of your decision. You would likely be dissatisfied with a workplace that is quiet, cold, or otherwise not particularly social. When you investigate a new hiring company, ask recruiters, managers, and potential co-workers about the social life and opportunities there. This is especially important when you are relocating; moving dramatically alters your social sphere both inside and outside the workplace.
