Daily Duties at Universal Studios Orlando:

• Responsible for managing a team of over 40 seamstresses fabricate costumes which give performers the flexibility to do a wide-range of movement while upholding the integrity of the character’s design. • Sourced materials for marquee events such as, Halloween Horror Nights, Macy’s Holiday Parade, Grinchmas, and Mardi Gras Parade. • Assessed the fabrication skills of the 40 plus seamstresses, exacting and distributing the work based on the specific talents of each of the seamstresses, ensuring they have the highest attention to detail and precision. • Managed costuming projects that required various dyes, finishes, and texture techniques for Live Shots on camera for publicity commercials and photo shoots. • Managed the translation of all costume drawings/designs into patterns through draping, flat patterning, and modifying pre-made patterns. In addition to creating and maintaining documentation on these new/modified patterns for future reference. • Cut costume pieces with knowledge of grain, knap, and fabric saving techniques. As well as stitching and completing finishing work on costumes through hand stitching and use of industrial machinery, when necessary. • Managed all fittings as well all newly altered fabricated and purchased costumes, ensuring that all complex alterations were completed to exact specifications. • Performed craft and millinery work, including work with basic foams and adhesive. • Ensured staff understood and actively participated in Environmental, Health & Safety responsibilities by following established Universal Orlando policies, procedures, training, and Team Member involvement activities. • Planed and organized elements of costume fabrication to help provide a continuous work flow and a safe operation. • Implemented plans for production of costume elements and saw all projects through to completion; recommending solutions to challenges that arose during construction. • Maintained and updated established costume production calendar to ensure compliance with the needs of Universal Studios, Islands of Adventure, in addition to the marquee events, photo shoots, and Live Shots.
