Responsible for working with various Director of Materials Management reports to optimize the efficiency of the Materials Management department. Responsible for establishing the tools to ensure medical supply and equipment availability across the hospital’s chain – $115 MM of medical supplies per year, 53 stocking stations. Responsible for utilizing tools to work with over 200 vendors to ensure product quality, shipping timeliness, and cost competitiveness. Responsible for maximizing the percentage of medical supplies that were purchased on a vendor-recognized contract – 90% of the $115MM per year. Responsible for working with over 20 hospital directors and departments to ensure that product changes were trialed, approved, and implemented. Developed policies and procedures that reduce the cost of the overall supply chain and equipment acquisitions. Maintained and updated the Materials Management Information System. Coordinated capital equipment purchases for specific lines of business. Acted as a resource of information concerning vendors and GPO contracts. Applied advanced knowledge and clinical expertise to identify products that can be standardized, modified, or eliminated to increase operating efficiency. Ensured cost­effective utilization of products, including but not limited to medical/surgical supplies, capital equipment, and services. Evaluated the cost benefits of product changes for standardization and/or contract/vendor changes and makes recommendations for action to management. Evaluated the consumption of materials on an ongoing basis.
