Daily Duties at East Shore District Health Department:
Was responsible for the development of policies and all preparation pertaining to public health services provided to the public in the event of a bio-terror attack. This included the devlopment of policies applying to the delivery of medical countermeasures to our citizens through emergency clinics which I developed. In addition, I was charged with recruiting and training sufficient volunteers to staff these clinics (Medical Reserve Corp.)in case of emergency for a period of ten days. In addition, I also developed a continuing education program to further their knowledge and to keep them actively involved in the process. One of the most important aspects was developing job descriptions and the creation of a Public Health Incident Command System. I was also charged with the purchase and storage of supplys that would be used in case of an emergency requiring immunizations or the distribution of medications.
What they like about East Shore District Health Department:
Working in an organization that is technologically advanced, creative, and innovative is critical in your assessment of hiring companies. Less important to you are stability of the organization, the length of time an organization has been in business, and the business' plans for the future. You prefer a fast-moving company that will take risks to achieve its goals and objectives. The length of time the company has been in business is irrelevant. Maintaining status quo is unnecessary. You thrive on change, uncertainty and the upside of potential business risks, especially those associated with innovation. Stability for the long haul is not nearly as important as is working in an atmosphere that is charged with a sense of urgency and constant change.
