Daily Duties at Citigroup Asset Management – Cititrust And Banking Corporation:

Project planning and management, business analysis, team management and IT strategic planning. Requirements gathering and documenting, design, documenting technical specifications, under the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) process. Conducting meetings with the Back Office – Client Reporting Team to understand changes required to be made on the Client Reporting System. Changes were usually not that significant and came from clients or due to regulatory changes. After talking to the users, summarizing the requirements into a document and get sign-offs. Communicate with the users when I think I can get the changes done for them to test it. Sit down and design the system changes making sure that no existing functions get affected and making sure that other developers’ changes working on the same system doesn’t get affected. Then going into actually making the code changes, unit test the change by myself, compile the changes into the system to perform end-to-end testing and regression testing. Test cases will be created at this time too. After enough testing in the Development environment, promote the changes into a UAT environment and have the users test the changed functionality and the overall system to make sure nothing breaked. After receiving user sign-off on UAT, migrate the changes into the Production environment. Post Production release will be the application support duty. If bugs are found, talk to the users and try to find a work around. If necessary, make quick fixes and after going through the Development Environment test, UAT Environment test, quickly get the fixes into Production ASAP. Gathering requirements, documenting them and getting a sign-off, plan and design the changes, work on the development, perform unit test, end-to-end test and regression testing, promote code to UAT environment, have users perform UAT and releasing the code into Production is the SDLC process. And at this point, I was converted to a Business Analyst so started doing more Project Management/Business Analysis type of work and slowly started to move away from Application Development. I started focusing more on the Business Process and Financial Product knowledge rather than the technical knowledge. Primary focus was on plain vanilla Equity trading and started going into Fixed Income (Government Bonds and Corporate Bonds) plus FX Forward and Bond Future trades. My knowledge expanded to cover the whole trade cycle from front-office to back-office. Somewhere in my resume, I would like to have it mentioned that I have end-to-end knowledge on the security trade processing life cycle and the steps included in the order they occur will be: 1) Trade decision making (what to buy/sell) 2) Portfolio rebalancing 3) Order management 4) Pre-trade compliance checking 5) Trade execution 6) Broker commission fee calculation 7) Trade confirmation 8) Trade allocation 9) Settlement instruction generation and delivery 10) Portfolio accounting 11) Post-trade compliance checking and regulatory checking 12) Performance measurement 13) Security data management (security reference data and end-of-day price/rates) 14) Risk and Index data import and management 15) Client report generation 16) Holdings and Cash reconciliation between the Portfolio Accounting system and the Custodian
