Daily Duties at Taylor Engineering:

Managed flood insurance studies for the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) Map Modernization and RiskMAP projects in Florida, Louisiana, and Texas. • Performed and managed comprehensive engineering analyses of riverine flood hazards including basin-wide modeling, model geo-referencing, and incorporation of LiDAR and survey data. • Applied hydrologic and hydraulic engineering methods and routinely utilized such engineering software packages as HEC-1, HEC-HMS, HEC-2, HEC-RAS, ArcGIS, ArcView, GeoRAS, TR-55, NFF, and SWMM. • Performed community outreach to established community flood hazard mapping priorities. • Through project team collaboration, developed scope of work for areas to have engineering studies and areas to refine flood hazard limits using automated and manual GIS methodologies. • Utilized innovative approaches and solutions to resolve complex engineering and GIS mapping issues. • Provided senior-level oversight, quality assurance/control reviews, and technical guidance for engineering analyses and GIS-based floodplain mapping. • Prepared GIS work maps for engineering analyses/reviews, alternative resolutions, and problem solving. • Addressed levee accreditation issues utilizing knowledge of FEMA’s Procedure Memorandums. • Developed public outreach materials for local citizens and monthly progress reports for stakeholders. • Provided mentoring and training to junior staff as needed. • Assisted in business development and proposal preparation for FEMA programs and stormwater planning studies including a marketing strategy to assist local floodplain administrators with FEMA programs/grants.
