Daily Duties at Urs Corporation:

Served as the Coordinator of the Regional Support Center (RSC) for Region 6 as part of a joint venture project office. This position is a critical element in providing effective support to the FEMA Regional office for FEMA’s Risk MAP program which has the objective to identify flood and other hazards and communicate risk and risk mitigation alternatives to stakeholders. • Managed a team of specialized professionals with diversified skills that provide technical, administrative, and communications support for flood hazard engineering and mapping production for FEMA Region 6. • Provided leadership, direction, and technical guidance and mentoring to RSC staff. • Provided advice, counsel, and/or instruction to staff members in support efforts to FEMA and the engineering/ mapping production team. • Monitored goals, managed resources, and evaluated implementation activities of RSC staff for FEMA’s Risk MAP Program throughout Arkansas, Louisiana, New Mexico, Oklahoma, and Texas. • Supported tasks performed by RSC staff include levee certification tracking, preparing responses to congressional inquiries, providing technical responses to stakeholder requests, assisting with flood hazard map adoption and revisions, developing and maintaining databases for project status, and assisting engineering/mapping production team with gathering watershed data pertinent for studies. • Prepared technical responses to stakeholder and FEMA inquiries regarding revisions to flood hazard area limits, status of flood hazard engineering studies, and floodplain management best practices. • Provided regular reports to FEMA Region and Headquarters on status of programmatic issues and tasks. • Coordinated with engineering/mapping production team to assist FEMA in achieving its Regional and national performance metrics. • Participated in operational and planning meetings with FEMA to discuss status of ongoing technical, administrative, and communications support; program measures; project sequencing; development of innovative solutions to improve program efficiencies; and coordination of correspondence to stakeholders.
