The sourcing manager has to ensure the source has adequate, quality materials available in the required time frame at the right price. Negotiation skills are required to broker contracts. The ability to manage multiple people and projects is necessary for this position. Job Duties • A sourcing manager’s job focus is to find the best resources at the best prices to keep the manufacturing process on schedule. He is expected to monitor the process from inception through completion and interact with key players to get feedback on all aspects of the materials purchased. Based on this information, he determines whether to use the supplier again or seek out higher quality or more cost-effective providers. His job entails confirming the terms of all contracts, licenses, insurance and liability agreements for each source he uses.
