I served as a Media Specialist with the US Census Bureau. My responsibilities included raising public awareness of the importance of the census in an effort to generate positive news coverage of the 2010 Census. I Supported national social media network Contributed newsletter articles Led media relations to television radio and newspaper outlets Produced video vignettes highlighting Census activities: notable events used to create awareness included working with NASCAR, The NBA and Sesame Street; Census in Schools program Managed Census exhibits Trained Census staff Maintained media data bank – Vocus media system Created talking points for Census managers Assisted in developing a Media Crisis Communication Guidelines for the public and media in the event of emergencies such as fire, and natural disaster and or man-made crisis
