Daily Duties at The Richards Group Marketing & Promotions Inc:

Accountability and responsibility at the highest level – I was responsible for the marketing for over 150 productions on and off broadway. I was to bring sponsorships, licensing deals, barter deals, and local and national promotions to each project including events to create media attention and to brand the project Ancillary events – First time seen in USA – Bartered a deal w a Canadian company to use their backpack screens which loops a video on a screen as a person wears it as a travelling billboard. Increased sales for a broadway show by 20%. In return, they received local press and exposure for their newly invented machinery. Assess the needs of the client – Analyze who the target audience is and develop a campaign that targets it’s audience. EXAMPLE: Developed concierge program for Broadway shows. The Broadway industry needed the support from the concierges in the hotels to educate the tourist on what’s on Broadway. Sent invites to all New York City Hotels inviting concierges, front desk managers, staff from tourist publications to a sponsored dinner and a performance of a show. Created a questionnaire to gather information for Producers. Followed up with collateral materials for the hotel desks to give out to guests. This program I developed is now industry practiced. Attention to detail Branding- For every show I was hired to do the marketing, its was a challenge to make sure the advertising and pr agency were on the same page a create a marketing plan that created exposure to increase sales. budget management – Managed budgets from $500,000 to $10 million. Created budget allotments for the various promotions and marketing collateral and media buys. Responsible to report all expenditures to management consumer strategic planning Clients worked with locally and nationally at client sites Creative solutions - implement national and local marketing campaigns - Direct work with ad agency and public relations agency in developing and implementing brand development campaigns. Help write radio copy, go over print material before releasing to publications, help develop collateral materials. (print ads, flyers, postcards and posters for upcoming shows. Negotiate barter deals in all media. EXAMPLE: Brokered deal between Jekyll & Hyde and Tourneau to market limited-edition, two-faced $7.5K watch. High-end watch manufacturer was looking for innovative promotion. Developed and executed national deal with advertising in Tourneau catalogs and New York Times. Created article for GQ magazine. Promoted PR event with watch presentations to theater celebrities. Watch edition sold out in 3 months. Show exposure valued at $200K. Identify target audiences, define key messages and develop and implement appropriate strategies event planning Intergrating marketing – spearhead and formulate campaigns to establish competitive positioning Licensing Example: Negotiated a deal for a Reality TV Celebrity and created a signature Jewelry line. In its 1st year of sales brought in revenue over 4 million dollars. Manage 6-7 projects simultaneously Manage accounts up to budgets of $10 million in size Managed of up to 75 contractors simultaneously Multi-task New initiatives – consensus and generate excitement and enthusiasm for new intiatives New product introductions and launches Example: 21st century cutting edge marketing using the mobile phone, (waps, video streaming, live wapcasts). This was used on the Broadway show 13 where we sent over the phone our video commercial which can be streamed and sent to anyone as a link. It has been successfully used as a viral marketing campaign and can easily be shared with other mobile phones Pitching to/calling on procurement – collaborate on new business proposals and presentations. Integrate and support new partnership acquisition and current partner retention programs, merchandising strategies. product placement EXAMPLE: Coordinated Topdog/Underdog theater sponsorship in return for product placement and playbill credit. Pulitzer Prize winning show, starring Mos Def, wanted to obtain corporate sponsorship for opening night event. Sourced potential donors. Negotiated with Makers Mark whiskey to provide product and $60K in financial support for premiere. project management EXAMPLE: Secured Virgin Atlantic co-branded, sponsored media campaign, enhancing advertising value 300%. Broadway show, Jekyll & Hyde, desired sponsorship from elite corporate entity to expand public awareness. Negotiated first-time Virgin Atlantic partnership, including $150K cash support and incorporation into airline advertising campaign. Increased play ticket sales 37% over previous year. Problem solve and make decisions – detailed oriented. Promotions – execution of all promotional and advertising materials and communications ensuring quality and accuracy Marketing communication including publicity press releases, creating collateral materials, print and TV media, internet campaigns Proven track record of increasing sales or business opportunities through client relationships. Including negotiating with client partners. EXAMPLE: Established Bell Atlantic pre-paid calling card promotion, co-branding product with Broadway show. Company wanted theater tie-in as incentive to purchase cards. Designed co-branded cards. Produced ad included in 3 million billing statements offering Jekyll & Hyde ticket discounts. Bell Atlantic sold 7,000 cards and show sold tickets increasing sales 25%. Market research and perform analysis – Able to research and anaylize market trends and turn results into actionable plans EXAMPLE: Designed and organized market research project for Tiffany & Co. to inform baby gift marketing strategy. Client company wanted qualitative data on baby present buying habits. Coordinated focus group project. Moderated research sessions of purchasers spending in excess of $500 for baby gifts or receiving gifts valued above $300. Research demonstrated that high-level purchasers were not acquiring gifts from Tiffany. Public speaking and giving presentations – Speaking for the Broadway League Association. Presented on 9 different occasions marketing strategies for Broadway and Touring Companies. social media networking sponsorships - Establish and grow all Key Partner and Sponsor relationships EXAMPLE: World Team Tennis (2011): Selling corporate sponsorship for the NY Sportimes Team and Sportime Clubs. Hired as an independent contractor to develop cash and barter deals to enhance the budget needed to host the 5 tournaments at Randall’s Sportime facility. Worked with Toyota, USTA, Skinny Girl Products. Raised $500,000 in sponsorship cash and barter media. Strategic thinker and ability to see and understand the big picture – Strategies – create and implement that meet a B2B and B2C marketing and sales objectives targeting sales into new markets Strong leadership skills Tactical execution Team member / Staff supervision - Manage and motivate a team of 6-8 employees to manage accounts simultaneously. Build, recruit, retain and motivate teams. Challenge and empower staff and adapt management style to the individual maintaining fair and consistent expectation of the staff. Write press releases.
