Daily Duties at Transamerica Asset Management, Inc.:

Initially hired to maintain certain tax-related documents and records throughout the year, as well as managing the relationship with the external service provider and exploring opportunities for further insourcing of work. Ultimately became responsible for: Oversight of all tax administration and compliance for over 120 Regulated Investment Companies (RICs) and Partnerships; oversight of tax return in-sourcing from external service provider; development, implementation and maintenance of all tax compliance processes and procedures; review of all annual federal, state and international tax filings; review of quarterly IRS compliance testing; preparation and review of FAS 109 provisions and related income tax disclosures in the annual and semi-annual reports; completion and maintenance of required FIN 48 documentation, including inventories of the company’s tax accounting methods and potential income tax positions; preparation and review of monthly, quarterly and annual income distributions; working with outsourced service providers to complete required tax filings in numerous foreign jurisdictions; coordinating with external auditors to ensure timely completion of annual financial statement audits; analyzing tax ramifications of conducting business in new foreign jurisdictions; reviewing and responding to all tax notices and inquiries from federal, state and international taxing authorities; managing income tax compliance of all mergers and consolidations. Between 2009 and 2010 the Company completed over 20 of these.
