Daily Duties at K Mart Pharmacy:
Oversee and participate in all facets of prescription filling: interpretation, input, compounding, counseling. Communication with other medical professionals to insure complete, accurate information. Patient interviews, counseling and immunizations. Reports printed previous night are signed and distributed to file/legal requirements. Messages on IVR (Innovative Voice Response) are retrieved, entered into the computer for processing. Rxs in fill que, (30-120) divided by automatic fill and patient called. Patient called must be complete by time computer informed the patient when RX called into the system. If no refills remain, a request is automatically sent to prescriber. As many from this que as possible are run before opening. Customers presents: acknowledge by name, ascertain need: refill, new Rx, counseling or call doctor. Refills get a new label, medication pulled and counted. The pharmacist has to visually verify every Rx after it is counted by tech. New Rx must have patient information written on the face at drop-off for computer search .If found by comparing information on face with the database; Rx processed. If patient not found, search extended to company wide database: if found by comparing data, Rx processed. If not in company wide database, the new patient must be added. With K-Mart, if patient has no insurance, they are enrolled in a savings plan to reduce the price from Usual and Customary. Rx is entered into patient profile and processed to insurance/savings card; returns to print appropriate counseling info and 2 labels: 1 to affix to Rx container, 1 to compare to original Rx and affix to back of original Rx after verified.Original Rxs must be filed chronologically and retained X years/law. Narcotic Rxs require verification, double counts, back counts and posting in perpetual inventory book. Drug orders:verify/process invoices, shelf meds, accept order into inventory. Schedule II meds received only by pharmacist; invoice verified, signed, meds posted in perpetual inventory book shelved under lock. Inventory of all meds monthly: reconcile count with computer; pull out of dates, return dead stock. Immunizations: flu shot at pt request, shingles and pneumonia by Rx. Hold blood pressure screenings/information sharing. Supervise 2 employees. PDX software. Oversee and participate in all facets of prescription filling: interpretation, input, compounding, counseling. Communicate with other medical professionals to insure complete, accurate information. Patient interviews, counseling and immunizations.
