Daily Duties at James Steele's Lab:
Conduct and analyze the knockout of genes encoding for L-lactate Dehydrogenase in Lactobacillus casei 12A to change metabolic pathway in order to produce ethanol as biofuel Carry out and analyze the growth curves for five strains of Lactobacillus casei under different alcohols and concentrations to select for best alcohol tolerant strains Write scientific reports and grant proposals Collaborate with graduate and post-doctoral students to set up experiments and do data analysis
