Daily Duties at Fairfax County Juvenile Detention Center :
Assume leadership role in crisis intervention or challenging situations according to best practices and standards, ensuring problems do not escalate. Conduct initial assessments on intakes by gathering appropriate data and orienting client to his/her rights and responsibilities and program expectations. Complete documentation for the court with recommendations and forward reports containing descriptive, analytical and evaluative content to include behavioral observations and disciplinary reports of detected violations. Provide individual and group counseling in a professional, ethical, and competent manner as directed by counseling staff. Actively participate in staff meetings, case conferences, and other unit meetings as needed. Compile data for caseworkers/probation officers weekly to assist with status reporting. Assist with transitions and linkages to community service by preparing youth for home visits. Discharge planning of youth. Develop, promote, and practice teamwork in all activities
