Daily Duties at Charter College:

I returned to the College I had worked at as the Program Head and Instructor for General Education at the request of the President to assist with the changes after the locally owned school had been sold to a national corporation. • Coordinated all internal and external communications, both printed and online, including re-designing and updating the college catalog, quarterly newsletter, student handbooks, personnel manuals, forms, and correspondence with accrediting agencies. • Responsible for marketing plan and budget. • Researched community needs for new education and training programs and coordinated initiation of programs for certification and degrees with the Alaska Commission on Post-secondary Education. • Developed programs, courses, and curriculum, which included writing descriptions, objectives, and syllabi. • Planned and organized special events, including staff and instructor retreats, student and staff orientations, and graduation ceremonies.

What they like about Charter College:

You give high priority to hiring firms with prestige. Market reputation and prestige of a firm may be determined through on-line research, and conversations with individuals working in your target industry. Note that firms "in the public eye" receive a great deal more critical publicity and attention than those operating with more anonymity. So as you assess your employment opportunities, be sure to seek out the positive aspects of the firm's reputation in addition to noting negative publicity the company may have received.
