Daily Duties at Hca Plantation General Hospital:
Perioperative nurse responsible for setup, circulating and ending cases, documentation, safety, relief for other nurses, scrub if needed, equipment operation. Served as charge nurse relief for vacations and days off for a 5 room operating room for 13 staff members. The charge nurse is responsible the operating room schedule with room and staff assignments, scheduling emergency cases, facilitating room turnover, ensuring equipment and supplies are available for cases, ensuring special orders for cases are ordered in a timely manner, AORN standards were maintained and policies and procedures are followed. Did relief for the operating room scheduler. Responsible for taking the bookings from the physicians and their offices, updating the next day schedule and ensuring that specialty equipment is not overbooked. Communication with the charge nurse on specialty cases requiring special equipment not readily available, notifying company representatives of cases when their presence is requested, verifying the next day schedule with the physician offices and the order they want to do them in if they have more than one scheduled. Relief for the operating room analyst which involved ordering, inventory management, reports and charges for the operating room. This included ordering specialty items, regular ordering for the operating room for supplies not ordered by central supply (i.e ear tubes, sutures, catheters, etc.)Mentor for new personnel and training on various pieces of equipment. Operated specialty equipment for ENT and laparoscopic cases.Assisted in streamlining the charging system for the operating room, superuser for the operating room computer module.
