Daily Duties at Qssi:
Participate as part of a team maintaining database servers. Migration of Sql Server 2000 databases to Sql server 2005; Mostly a large, enterprise Oracle system in a dynamic, research oriented healthcare and scientific IT division of CMS. Position involves hands on database configuration for managing databases, installing and upgrading database server and application tools; and involves some data layer software and data object development for MS SQL Server and Oracle DBA work involves good RDBMS fundamentals; modifying the database structure as required by solution architects/developers; creating primary database objects (tables, views, indexes) from scripts or application design; controlling and monitoring user access to the database. Pro- active management of production database systems and risk mitigation; Monitoring and optimizing the performance of the database; Backing up and restoring the database; Maintaining archived data on appropriate storage devices. SQL query and stored procedure development, job automation, multi-table joins and query optimization Good communications and analytical skills. Advise project managers, business analysts and customers regarding best technical practices.
