Daily Duties at Suncoast Waldorf School:

Managed the day-to-day operations of this privately held non-profit organization. I managed staffing needs including proposing expansion/change of staff to the Board of Trustees. I advertised for new staff (through Craig's list, local newspapers, word of mouth, community newsletter and through the Waldorf jobs board.), performed all necessary steps to ensure the teachers applying were certified and had a clean background. I mentored teachers regarding the school's culture and policies. I performed interim and annual performance reviews for the teachers, recommending a change in position, salary, termination, etc. Worked with outside state regulatory bodies to ensure our school met the requirements for safety, health, and student academic results. Interfaced with the state department of education regarding student testing and results, and student financial aid, and special needs aid. I identified donors, and developed annual fundraising strategies. I executed the fundraising plans, including finding and managing volunteers. I made funding proposals to large companies, developed long and short term plans for capital improvements, curriculum expansion and land and equipment acquisition. Managed accounting and payroll, collections, production of the monthly financial statements, attendance at the monthly Board of Trustees meeting to present and discuss the school's financial and business health. I sought and secured favorable lending terms from private and banking sources, through cold calling, and visiting, as well as word of mouth. I worked with the marketing and faculty staff to expand enrollment and curriculum and services. This meant attending weekly faculty meetings to discuss areas where the school needed augmentation, and attending weekly Operations meetings to ensure the school was following the policies and procedures as approved by the Board. I was in charge of outreach which included Open Houses, “town-hall meetings” and representing the school in other public venues. I developed the structure for the documentation of the long-term strategy for the school, including the annual report, budget and business plan. I was the most senior employee reporting directly to the Board of Trustees. There were 35 employees, and I had 10 reporting directly to me.
