Daily Duties at The Children's Hospital:

Performed acute psychiatric evaluations for children who presented in crisis in the emergency department of the hospital. Made diagnosis of the current situation and determined the safety of the child and/or others involved. Extensively used the DSM and mental health holds. Reviewed each case with a psychiatrist and determined if the patient required hospitalization, assistance with outpatient services or another appropriate intervention. Obtained authorization from the patients’ insurance carriers as needed. Worked closely with all staff in the emergency department to ensure proficiency and continuity of care for the patient. Assisted with supervising students for the Graduate School of Social Work at the University of Denver.
