Daily Duties at Patuxent Instituion:

Facilitate process groups; Facilitate evidenced-based modules; Provide individual therapy; Formulate treatment plans; Provide treatment for inmates diagnosed with a variety of Axis I and Axis II disorders including: Mood Disorders, Anxiety Disorders, ADHD, Substance Dependence, Pedophilia, Borderline Personality Disorder, and Antisocial Personality Disorder; Provide therapy to address a variety of issues including those related to substance abuse/dependence, criminality, interpersonal relationships, conflict resolution, communication, affect management, cognitive distortions, abuse, trauma, domestic violence, social skills, victim impact, depression, anxiety, esteem, need fulfillment, loss, employment readiness, coping skills, and socialization; Maintain caseload and perform administrative tasks; Serve as an advocate in establishing and facilitating intercommunication between inmates and medical staff; Responsible for discharge planning; Perform and present Psychosocial Assessments, including diagnosis; Member of a multi-disciplinary team where decisions regarding patient care and inmate status are determined; Perform Team Leader duties in supervisor’s absence;Supervise staff and students; Coordinate orientations for staff and inmates; Manage treatment database; Responsible for victim notification; Provide professional recommendations in reference to inmate status and treatment progress; Effectively communicate with other team members and provide inmate progress reports
