Daily Duties at State Farm Insurance:

-- Manage functional teams ranging from 10 - 20 employees -- Participate on project teams starting with development, through implementation and monitoring after implementation. New software and hardware implementations have involved work with corporate analyst teams virtually and with local vendors to ensure success. Upgrades to both Opex equipment and BancTec software have resulted in changes of processes. -- Participated and led process goal committees for the building. Process goal committees focus on providing information and events to increase the understanding of and effectiveness of mentoring, diversity & inclusion and employee development programs. I led committees, primarily made up of site leadership, in 2008 and 2009 for Mentoring and 2011 for diversity and inclusion. -- Performance management through one on one meetings, coaching/counseling, employee development, documentation, and termination. -- Handle job posting with Human Resources, interview and select new hires. -- Onboard new employees. -- Ensure compliance courses are comleted by employees and compliance is maintained. -- Semi-annual employee performance reviews completed for all employees with annual merit process. -- Approval of journal entries, error corrections, profit & loss items. --Complete monthly bank account reconciliations for four operating accounts with up to a $1 billion dollars deposited and sent to investment accounting monthly. -- Monitor customer service calls. About 400 service calls come in monthly primarily from agents and divisions regarding payment issues. Work with employees on difficult issues, own service calls that have conflict or are routed to leadership and ensure we resolve calls timely. -- Monitor workflow and participate in daily huddle meetings to address bottlenecks in production to ensure processing of up to 200k payments occurs daily to bank money and update policies. -- Complete vendor scorecards and manage vendor relations. Work with on site technician to resolve equipment issues, conduct tests, and complete monthly preventative maintenance. Approve invoices for $125k annual maintenance contracts and review for cost savings. -- Annual department planning meetings to develop a strategic plan for the department that aligns with State Farm goals. -- Responsible for department business continuity plans. Keep plans updated with current information, test yearly and provide plans to department leadership. -- Records Management responsibilities to ensure that all associates take yearly information retention training and properly manage business information. -- Talent reviews and succession planning. -- Mentor new supervisors. -- Created a business acumen game for leadership to improve understanding of business results and create a tie to daily activities. -- Created a department staffing model to reflect resource needs and compare to current staffing to identify areas of improvement or need. -- Review system access for employees to ensure appropriate access was maintained.
