Daily Duties at Progeny System Corporation :

Assisting engineers in research and development activities, inspected products and processes; conducted experiments and testing; and collected data. Advanced electronic assembly duties included wire cutting, lead trimming and tinning, board prep, hand forming components, tinning pot operation, ink stamping, aqueous cleaner operation, prep equipment set-up and operation, touch-up, THT and large pitch SMT soldering, standard and non-standard repairs, back wire installation, component bonding, component seating, solder removal (bridges etc.), baking oven operation, crimping, general use of adhesives, torque, solderpak wire terminations, equipment maintenance, fine pitch SMT solder/de-solder, component replacement and prototype assembly. Participated in troubleshooting electronic equipment, covering use of both analog and digital versions of oscilloscopes, spectrum analyzers, function generators, pulse generators, watt-meters, multi-meters and hi-pot meters. Built and worked closely with 3-phase power supplies. Accomplishments: • Within a few months of being hired, earned respect of every Senior Engineer and received requests from everyone needing assistance with prototype projects. • Due to defects in raw materials, project was three weeks behind schedule. Played key role in meeting deadline by modifying ICBs (Internal Circuit Board) in each transmitter, and testing, assembling, and preparing them for delivery to test site facility. Project met deadline and earned Navy contract. • Guidance system design failed to meet Navy’s specification regarding noise levels processed by receiver. Working with engineers, programmers and technical personnel assisted in testing circuits using simulator developed by senior engineer and system designer. Noticing that noise patterns decreased during the night, discovered that room’s fluorescent lights were causing unexplained noise detected in the guidance circuit. Discovery enabled redirection of efforts, resolution of problem, and delivery of system within deadline.
