Daily Duties at Human Services Research Institute:
What Was I Hired To Do: I was hired to transform and translate very complicated data-driven products into compelling, user-friendly, accessible training materials for SAMSHA’s project officers so they could determine whether their grantees were meeting the federal government’s compliance guidelines. Tasks • Conducted training needs assessments and developed effective training concepts and solutions. • Consulted with internal and external stakeholders (managers, clients, SMEs) to identify learning needs and to ensure course content, training methodologies, and training materials meet those needs. • Using the ADDIE approach, designed 10-14 classroom-based trainings per year for each of SAMHSA’s five departments, including customized storyboards, trainer’s guides, participant workbooks, training tools, handouts, and other training collateral. • Met with trainers and SME’s on final products to ensure consistent training delivery and quality control. • Worked with SME’s to develop and host E-learning courses, webinars, & powerpoint presentations for conferences. Hosted regular GotoMeeting sessions with external contractors and vendors for joint-venture training collaborations. • Developed and administered tools to measure effectiveness of training programs. Made recommendations based on these measurements to improve quality of training programs. • Managed training production schedules and budgets. • Applied for and secured CEU’s from MAPPA (Maryland Association of Prevention Professionals) for the first time.
