Daily Duties at Lutheran Homes Youth And Family Services:

This position has required a strong, confident demeanor and the capacity to physically manage youth who are experiencing an emotional crisis, are assaultive and/or being destructive. I have the skills to verbally de-escalate a crisis and use mature judgment during a management crisis, I have leadership skills, crises management skills, a high energy level, self discipline, and I can provide a very cool approach to a volatile situation. Reliability, flexibility, and dedication are keys to making a positive impact in my current work environment. I discuss with and teach the kids skills that they will need as they move towards independent living. These skills include cooking, balancing a checkbook, looking for a job, time management, discussing coping skills to combat aggressive and assaultive behaviors among others. I also perform many of the administrative duties regarding each youth’s progress to keep their corresponding counties apprised of the youth’s activities.
