Daily Duties at Delaware Veterans Home:
Nursing duties, colostomy care, wound care, c-pap machines, IV, tube feeds,Assess patient health problems and needs, develop and implement nursing care plans and maintain medical records. A registered keeps communication and works with the families and relatives of patient. They also handle coordination between health care providers and the doctors. Nurses also take charge of the creation of nursing care plans of patients and their assessment. They take care of patients, administer their medication and constantly checks on their progress. Nurses ensure that patients are treated well and that they are educated when it comes to health care. They provide advice and support patients when it comes to the ordeals that they are facing. Administer meds as scheduled, take care of prn pain/nausea etc.. needs, check & implement new orders as they come in, assist CNAs with anything they may need, assist other RNs with anything they may need, assist physicians with anything they may need. And of course run to others with anything I may need. Monitor patients for complications, review charts for additional information, interact with family and answer questions, call doctors for med orders I may need or to report new developments etc... discharge a patient which can involve a lot of teaching etc... I finish up by giving report to the oncoming RNs about the patients I've had, their condition and how they're doing.
