Daily Duties at Corrections/State Of California:

Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation, July 1999 to March 2012 Promoted through several positions culminating with the rank of Correctional Sergeant having successfully served as or in the position of Program Analyst, Academy Instructor, Background Investigator, and Correctional Officer. Associate Governmental Program Analyst ● Conduct comprehensive background investigations of peace officer applicants. ● Meet and exceed background investigation production goals. ● Accurately interpret and apply relevant penal and government code sections in determining applicant qualifications and suitability. Academy Instructor ● Prepare lesson plans using established peace officer training curriculum. ● Conduct presentations, field questions and train peace officer cadets in a classroom setting. Conduct presentations, field questions and train peace officer cadets in a classroom setting. ● Conduct tactical training for peace officer cadets. ● Coordinate with law enforcement agencies, employers, to determine applicant suitability. ● Develop and make recommendations for curriculum modifications relevant to policy, procedure or law changes. Background Investigator ● Review and evaluate cadet performance. ● Prepare reports, caseload data, case notes, and recommendations. ● Conduct field reviews with local law enforcement agencies, employers, institutions. ● Serve as a subject matter expert regarding the background investigation process. ● Prepare reports and statistical data to academy administrators. ● Stay apprised of curriculum updates and implement into lesson plans. ● Accurately interpret and discuss relevant policies, procedures, and laws. Correctional Officer ● Responsible for daily oversight and supervision of more than 500 administrative segregation inmates. ● Conduct investigations including interviews with inmates related to inmate misconduct/gang activity. ● Prepare reports, investigative summaries, and case notes. ● Attend and present information at inmate misconduct hearings. ● Monitor and track inmate movement utilizing database systems.
