Daily Duties at Health & Hospital Corporations (Hhc):

Make sure that network facilities satisfy and uphold compliance responsibilities with applicable laws, regulations, and accrediditations standards. 1.AT LOCAL LEVEL-FACILTIY: conducted 30-45 minutes of fraud,waste & abuse training during monthly new employee orientation program. 2. entered complaints in a data base CORPORATE LEVEL: 2. participated in developing Corporate Compliance Work Plan. Confirming Compliance and uniformity across all hospitals was the goal. a. reviewed 2011-2012 OMIG regulatory work plan and extracted - ranking initiatives within the OIG work plan. 18 work items were picked as priority that was considerd midiuum to high risk areas for hospitals 2. created a list of HHC 18 work item with OMIG brief description of each work item in alphatebical order list. 2. held meetings with business owners ( finance, Risk mgmnt, medical records Lab. department heads, etc..to explain choice of HHC list of work items, get feedback from business owners, and respond to questions, & concerns. 3. then, scheduled a submeetings to sit down with business owners that have department that work together with chosen work items a. I asked questions regarding current policies, procedures,current monitoring systems in place. ( I did these steps for all 18 OMIG/HHC work items). 4. once all data was collected, information was entered in data base and reevieed cy Corp Compliance Officer. then, a corp compliance team was scheduled by our office to review as a team everyones finding, and next steps at the facilties. 5. NEXT STEP: ceach compliance officer was given a work item that we woulld take the lead and be the Project Manager. a. I was given my work item> at this point I scheduled interviews with he appropriate business owners ( dept heads) asked to see and rview policies, procedue proof of staff training, copies of corrective action plans, monitoring systems in place if any. a. once all interiews and documented was conduted I wrrote a report and submitted to Corp Compliance Officer for his comments and suggestions. then, based on my findings I develope a review tool, tprovide methedology to be used, who need to be interviwed at their loactions, time period to be audited for review and the amount of claims to be reiwed that specific time period. a summary tool is also devloped, for all the other compliance officer to use / complete at their faciltes and return to me by due date provided. Once I recieve completted summary tools. I analyse and write a report by network and a hospital wide summary report. This information is shared with Hospital Executive Director, Compliance Commitee and the HHC Board of Directors. 6. worked and completed multiple projects (18 work items) with different due date. Final step of Review is staff education:I prepared a Powerpoint based on the issues encountered, and coordinated hospital wide training session that was very successfull. Part II: Once traing was done, was the monitoring of CAP 6 months later to ensure CAp is maintained> therefore I directed compliance officers(collegaues) to do at their facilties and report back to me compliance status. B. Participated in the review of Vendor RFP submissions and final hire of vendor. C. charged with maintaining and reporting Compliance Complaint Hotline activities at compliance committee meetings. D. asisted in developing employee compliance courses modules used as mandated annual refresher courses. E. researched on OMIG work items and helped deciefer the specfic law section for example " one day admissions" C. co-chaired facilty compliance committee. Committee cheduled every 2 months for 60 minutes. depending on report members had up 10 minutes. : Created agenda, one week prior to meeting made sure memebers that that to report are prepared. Provided Hotline data,any regulatory updates/ changes, provided status on risk assessment work plan, last 10 minutes open to new discussion. C. served as advisor to Corp Compliance Officer on contract reviews to ensure it was OK to do business with these vendors.( I was chosen because of my prior contract compliance experience at a faciltiy level).
