Daily Duties at Mobridge Regional Hospital:

Manage a department with four other Technologists.The daily tasks include all patient examinations from X-ray,Ultrasound,cat scanning,nuclear medicine,MRI,and Mammography.These tasks many times are under the usual medical time restraints and have to be performed quickly,accurately and many times under a lot of pressure.Develop and effectively communicate full understanding of our products and service offerings to the hospital network. .I am also the Radiology Physician Assistant for the Radiologist group that interprets the images.The Radiologists do not have to travel the 200 miles round trip to our hospital to perform certain functions such as: Barium enemas,stomach exams and esophagus studies.This skill set was developed working with many Radiologists over time and I have been certified to perform these highly specialized duties. I Work closely with Physicians,Midlevels,Nurses and administration to make sure these examinations are done,properly,quickly,safely and within budget guidlines.I Research and make all major capital equipment purchases in the Radiology department.Identifying, cultivating and ultimately closing deals. .Develope relationships within Healthcare communities including Hospital networks and physician practices, and local schools.Participate in an annual "scrubs camp" where several schools bring high school students to learn about health care. I brought in an Ultrasound machine with a "live" pregnant patient and let the students learn hands on scanning skills.The follow up student critiques marked my profession the most fun and interesting.
