Daily Duties at U.S. Brokers Network, Inc.:
Underwrite professional liability lines of business through independent agents and wholesale brokers for errors and omissions/ professional liability. Review new and renewal business applications to evaluate degree of risk involved; accept or decline risks based on company's underwriting policies; contact agents/brokers for missing or incomplete information; Use approved rating methods of the company; maintain a profitable book of business within assigned levels of authority by using sound underwriting judgment and technical skills. Continue personal development to meet the company goals of quality and timeliness. Interpret insurance coverage for agents and insureds. Answer communication inquires from agents regarding coverage and pricing. Review policy renewal information to determine if properly priced based on exposure. Identify and recommend changes to policy verbiage when standard text is not appropriate. Coordinate and evaluate performance of clerical staff. Mentors and coaches clerical staff by providing hands-on learning experiences. Provides problem resolution and training programs in order for the assigned staff to attain a competent and fully trained clerical staff. Analyzes quality and quantity of risks underwritten. Maintains Policy and Procedures for use by all staff. Purchase, install and maintain all computer hardware and software for agency. Install and implement rating guidelines. Create and write policy form, endorsements and applications in accordance with company guidelines. Coach, train and mentor staff. Train staff on all policy issuance and endorsement changes. Work with programmers to implement all required rating changes, policy wording changes. Review accounts receivable and accounts payable reports to maintain current status. Contact agents regarding Notices of cancellations and requests for reinstatement; determins status of insureds with agents; direct endorsements to policy coverage. Annual Premium production increase: Daily increased review of applications with greater commission income. Annually increased written premium production by greater than 10% of expiring premium production. Initially underwrote accounts with less than $400,000 of annual income: successfully booked over 85% of accounts reviewed to book more premium than had ever been written in this category of income accounts. Monthly underwrite and book premium for all applicants with income over $800,000: successfully booked over 75% of accounts reviewed to book more premium than had ever been written in this category of income account. Monthly underwrite over 140 accounts: Reviewed more accounts daily to increase agency average premium per account to over $2500 for accounts with income under $800,000. Promoted to Underwriter in 2004:took continuing education classes and passed Property and Casualty exam on first try Internal Office Policy and Procedures Manual: Wrote initial office policy and procedures manual to provide professional consistent output by entire staff as required for each company providing minimal audit critiques by companies Production analysis: Produce Excel workbooks of monthly and annual premium production vs. losses: Create spreadsheets of premium production by state, producer and losses creating analysis of revenue streams and avenue of successes of agency: Determined annual Company growth patterns management and company. Manage clerical and bookkeeping staff of 3. Train, mentor and challenge staff to provide professional insurance environment. Company rating system underwriting guidelines: worked with programmers to update the rating system as required by the company to achieve premium as directed by filed rates of company: Upgraded all computers to current Microsoft system and current UNIX based rating system: all users utilize correct premium per company and state laws.
