Daily Duties at State Farm Fire & Casualty Company:
Hires and manages the activities and training of a 6 person claims Unit. Provides advice, counsel, and training to claims personnel to include specialized training and consultation to non-claims partners. Resolves complaints, problems and coverage questions which have been escalated through the Team. Prepared performance evaluations including salary proposals, promotion recommendation and counseling memos. Provides ongoing training and employee development to Team members and ensures all understand corporate policy and procedures and comply with State regulations. Comprehensive technical knowledge of ability to advise on policy coverage, legal issues, and resolution of litigated and non-litigated third party claims. Ability to plan, prioritize and organize claims workload for the Team. Demonstrates exceptional written and verbal communications. Maintain relationships with counsel and other vendors to ensure expectations are met within budget. Conducts Claim Audits to ensure Company compliance with Best Practices. Member of Claim Committee for decisions made at Division level. Identify and analyze trends in claims pending and expenses for forecasting and strategic planning. Responsible for preparing the annual budget for Unit. Maintains the Unit calendar for notification and reporting of large and complex files at Divisional level or higher levels.
