Daily Duties at Great Lakes Dredge & Dock Company:

In 2001 I was selected to lead a new department dedicated to recruiting and training of our engineering staff. At the time the company was experiencing a 50% attrition rate per year which had led to several engineering coverage shortfalls on our project sites. Over the course of the next 10 years I developed a recruiting program that was able to keep up with the ~50% attrition rate experience within the companies engineering staff. I developed and executed the only practical hydrographic survey training programs within the United States. The program included training in safety, dredge operations, hydrographic surveying, contract reporting, contract specifications, and quality control. As the second in command of our Site Engineering department I had a large stake in developing a 50 person engineering staff with an ~50% attrition rate into a 92 person staff with an attrition rate less than %25 / year.
