Daily Duties at The Poole & Kent Corporation:

Receive contract for both jobs study them to see if there is anything out of the ordinary which at an airport or in the FBI academy there is a very good chance there is because of security and safety. At Dulles all I had to do is attend all progress meetings once a week and go there if there was a safety or manpower problem there was especially safety. Both jobs had to be studied so you could mobilize for them. Get all the tools you would need to perform the job, all safety equipment, expendables things that you would need to do the work such as welding wire grinding wheels cable slings of various sizes, what the tools would need with them to do the work. Set up credit with vendors in the area to deliver diesel fuel, gasoline, and welding supplies. Then walk job, have daily progress meetings, fill out payroll, if engineering problems fill out and submit all Requests for information which are submitted to the engineer or the architect. Then try to get an answer as soon as possible, they are not on site if the request stops production .I have to move manpower to a different place to keep them productive. Then the normal walk the job to see if the men are doing work up to quality and productive. I would have to order steel and pre poured cement walls on a daily basis, there was no where to turn the tractor and trailers around and keep that in perfect sequence. At the end of the job all Requests for information had to be turned over t the FBI all paperwork we used and blueprints so no one else could ever have access to them. Oversee all steel erection jobs they had going on in the D.C.and Baltimore area. Deal with all project managers with any problems we were having with deliveries, manpower, and site areas, sub contractors involved with our work, payroll, union problems, payment to vendors, and payment to Poole or Kent or engineering problems.
