Daily Duties at Limbach Company L.L.C.:
: My responsibilities were to be on site walk site early in the morning see if anything had changed on it overnight to make an unexpected unsafe condition for any of the sub-contractors or my trades, next get ant work permits needed , so the men could burn or weld in an area without something exploding or a fire starting or setting off fire alarms and the fire company shows up with ambulance. Attend progress meeting see if the client is satisfied with all the work being done by my company and the sub-contractors we hired. Get to the field to see if the tradesmen were missing any parts or needed anything delivered if you have piping and electrical trades there are so many tiny parts that your men even if they are good at there trade they will miss pieces of valves, switches, it is just more complex trades more room for error, then most things are copper or you can use them at home so you have thief problems also. Foreman turn in all manpower to me daily, I have to charge it properly to the correct cost code. I have to fill out a daily report on every area worked then turn it in to the project manager at the end of the day, so he can compare it to the day before that way he does not have to come to the site or deal with the trades if they are getting behind on schedule. If they have any accidents on site I have to fill out all the reports and deal with the client why it happened and how can we make it never happen again. I have to constantly maintain a cost completion relationship with the money to activities situation on the job. Balancing the through out a high rise building actually I guess any you have to balance it. Your air coming out of the diffusers in the building an engineer draws a print he wants certain airflow from the air supply. If it is not correct you have to close the damper and measure it with a device one problem you may have 10 outlets on a air supply line , you get them all close the first time, because when you change one it effects the other so you will probably have to go through at least twice. The whole time you are doing this there is a specifications book this has to be done by it will state the type of materials which was agreed upon at the time the contract was drawled up and the owner agreed to. After balancing if in a city the city inspectors will now come in especially the fire inspector if everything on the fire alarm does not pass you will not get an occupancy permit for your building. Now what if the 10’Th liquidate damages start on the 9, th the fire alarm system fails you still receive Liquidated damages. Give yourself 10 working days before a final inspection chances are what ever is wrong you will not correct in 24 hours. Your men will be tired because you were getting to the end of the job, you put a push on to complete and it did not happen. Any engineering problems at the end of the job all need to be documented and given to the owner.
