Daily Duties at Merrill Lynch:
I worked for the Leveraged Buyout group called Merrill Lynch Capital Partners (MLCP)in the Investment Banking Division. Leveraged Buyout Groups (LBOs) are now called Private Equity. I maintained the general ledger accounting system for each LBO partnership and prepared the Quarterly and yearly financial statements for each partnership. Each LBO Partnership had General Partners (ML Bankers) and Limited Partners (institutional investors). It was my responsibility to collect the money for new LBO financings and to distribute the money when a LBO partnership was sold. I coordinated with lawyers, the bankers, and the Cayman Island Bank with these collections and distributions often setting up the wires to transfer money.
