Daily Duties at Private Consultant:
Fully read and respond to questions from the owner(s) of private equity or other alternative investment funds. Provide advice as to best course of action to take. Advise on broad economic activity and discuss how to view portfolios vs. peer income groups with private clients. Advised several clients as to asset allocation of their investments. This was especially sensitive in the wake of the Madoff related losses in Palm Beach. Advised on levels of risk individual investors should/should not take. Advised a family office of governance issues with respect to how a foundation should be managed. This involved the review of a large one stock position as to diversification strategy and the appetite for moving out of a family named stock into a broad based portfolio. It also involved schooling on the current investment climate vs. what they had traditionally been use to seeing. Advised a not for profit portfolio manager as to how to view and manage time risk for an endowment (which has an infinite time horizon vs. quarterly results drives). Currently looking at moving to other investment advisers and additional non-liquid investments for a portion of the portfolio.

You prefer a fast-moving company that will take risks to achieve its goals and objectives. The length of time the company has been in business is irrelevant. Maintaining status quo is unnecessary. You thrive on change, uncertainty and the upside of potential business risks, especially those associated with innovation. Stability for the long haul is not nearly as important as is working in an atmosphere that is charged with a sense of urgency and constant change.
