Daily Duties at Allaint International University:

During my years as the Assistant Controller, I have managed a budget that grew from $60M in 2006 to $83M in 2012. I have streamlined the processes, establishes policies and procedures, created efficiency and a strong and enthusiastic team, and generated substantial savings for Alliant. • Effectively managed a staff of 14 in General Accounting, Account Payable, and Payroll Departments. • Full ownership of closing and reporting Alliant’s financial accounting. This includes the reports: Trail Balance, Statement of Activity, Balance Sheet, Cash Flow, and Budget to Actual Analysis. It also includes the following schedules: Classification of Net Assets, Investments, Pledges and Student Loans Receivable, Fixed Assets, Accounts Payable, Accrued Payable, Deferred Revenue, Line of Credit, and Notes Payable. • Responsible for Domestic and International financial transactions including Federal and State Financial Aid Funds (Pell, FWS, FSEOG, and Perkins), Grants & Contracts, and over 30 bank accounts activities and final approval of all ACH, FTE, Cash-net, and wire transfers. • Supervised the monthly and annual closing of the general ledger, assuring that accounts were appropriately analyzed and reconciled. • Managed successful annual financial and OMB A-133 audits. Over the last two years the accuracy and integrity of the work has resulted in no audit adjustment, no material weakness or significant findings, and no management comments. • Reviewed and prepared the Quarterly and Annual Regulatory and Tax Filings. These reports included but were not limited to: Forms 990 and 990T, FISAP, e-Z audit Financial Statements, IPAD reports, Schedule of Federal Expenditures, Financial WASC reports, Data Collections, Sales Tax, Annual Real Estate and Personal Property Tax Returns (including College Exempt and Business property Tax Statement). Since I took over this responsibility in 2007 I saved Alliant International University over $500K in real Property Tax refunds from the County Assessors and Landlords.

Stability for the long haul is not nearly as important as is working in an atmosphere that is charged with a sense of urgency and constant change.
