Daily Duties at Mercer Investment Consulting Group:
I was hired on at Mercer because my predecessor had failed to deliver an Investment Analysis System that met the company’s needs. I was told that this system was a Mainframe based systems with a "Green Screen" interface. The organization said they want to go in a more modern direction using PC's instead of the Mainframe. So working with the business leaders around the country I Developed and co-designed Investment Analysis System (IAS) Developed IAS completely in C/C++ creating it to be an internationally integrated, PC LAN/WAN-based, multi-user, performance measurement system designed to work in a global environment It had an intuitive menu driven interface that was extremely well received by our Analysts. On a day to day basis I managed a staff of six with a one million dollar technology budget. I was responsible for not only Systems Design but also hands-on Development of some of the system I designed. In addition I was responsible for Technical support of our office and the support of our analysts in the field offices around the country and eventually around the world. Any given day I was one of the following: • Software Engineer • Software Developer • Manager • Technical Support/Help Desk • Quality Assurance Tester • Technical Writer • Network Engineer
