Daily Duties at Nationwide:

Special Claims Representative - Generalist, 6/08 – 9/09 ▪ Handled personal lines losses to conclusion which involved complex investigations, severe injuries, and attorney represented claimants. ▪ Negotiated settlement of bodily injury claims within established authority and fair values after completion of comprehensive injury evaluations which included reviewing index matches to identify prior and/or subsequent injuries, securing and analyzing all medical records, and giving careful consideration to potential mitigators and aggravators. ▪ Identified fraud indicators and made referrals to Special Investigative Unit (SIU). ▪ Developed and submitted written/verbal reports to management as required. ▪ Maintained proper reserve levels consistent with company guidelines. ▪ Recognized potential risks and submitted reviews to underwriting. ▪ Crafted professional written correspondence to various parties including attorneys and claimants. Special Claims Representative – Field, 7/02 – 5/08 ▪ Completed accurate coverage and liability investigations in a timely manner through means which included the following: analyzing insurance contract, statutory and case law, canvassing neighborhoods and “cold calling” to obtain statements from all relevant parties, completing detailed scene inspections, reviewing vehicle damage photos and repair estimates, and interpreting police, light sequence, accident reconstruction and medical reports. ▪ Met “face-to-face” with unrepresented claimants and developed good rapport which established foundation for successful negotiations in settlement of bodily injury claims. ▪ Maintained superior claim handling standards, developed proactive resolution strategies, and met objectives. ▪ Consistently earned “exceeds” results for “same day contact” percentage and customer satisfaction survey scores.
