Daily Duties at Osf St. Francis Medical Center:

Responsible for monitoring patient flow involving ill as well as well patients in the fast paced Admitting Department of Peoria's largest medical center in downstate Illinois. This position was a volunteer position in which I volunteered 2 years while obtaining my four year Bachelor's degree in a two year span of time. To say this was a fast paced office was a definite understatement. As soon as patient entered the Department, I checked patient off with mouse using computerized system by checking the box next to patient name in the computer. Thus, the patient was into the system for the particular health issue of that day. Front desk manually entered patient name on patient check list sheet. A physical sheet was given to me with patient’s name. A pager was given to patient upon arrival to track patient flow by the front desk. Depending on the waiting line, when patient’s pager reacted, I took pager and patient to the respective CSR (customer service representative) and CSR and patient would update patient information in CSR’s computer. After patient/CSR visit concluded, I took patient to their testing destination. This destination could be anywhere in the hospital which could encompass a mile of walking. Sometimes I would have to take the patient to the charge nurse I would assist them with walking, listen to their particular situation, sit with them while they waited for their next appointment and go beyond the call of duty frequently by staying extra time with them so they would be occupied and not fret until a nurse or different employee took them to another room for testing.

What they like about Osf St. Francis Medical Center:

The social vibrance of a hiring firm is very important to you. Your ability to make and maintain friendships there is a critical part of your decision. You would likely be dissatisfied with a workplace that is quiet, cold, or otherwise not particularly social. When you investigate a new hiring company, ask recruiters, managers, and potential co-workers about the social life and opportunities there. This is especially important when you are relocating; moving dramatically alters your social sphere both inside and outside the workplace.
