Daily Duties at Omnicare Pharmacy:

Hired as a staff pharmacist with both dispensing and clinical patient consulting and chart revieewing responsibiities. As business grew, full time consultant was hired and oriented by me as I was promoted to Pharmacy operations manager. As the business again grew and the management roles were redefine, the role of General Manager and operations manager were consolidated. Preparation and monitoring oral and IV medications for frail elderly residents in Long Term and Assisted Living facilities. Prepare and maintain Performance Improvement program • Evaluate physician medication orders for appropriateness of drug, dosage, potential interactions, route of administration and stability. Make recommendations for therapy changes to the physician and facility staff as appropriate. Maintain patient database to include appropriate current and past medical history, appropriate clinical and laboratory data, and concurrent medication (including over-the-counter and home remedies). Document all communication with physicians, nurses, other members of the healthcare team Obtain and maintains all required documentation in accordance with federal and state regulatory agencies and policy. Implement policies and procedures for the safe procurement, storage, distribution and use of drugs and biologicals, as well as disposal of drugs. Assist facility/agency staff personnel with procedures relating to safe and effective methods of procuring, maintaining, administering and disposing of drugs. Consult with physicians and nursing staff regarding patient reactions, errors and complaints. Determine and consults on possible drug interactions. Assist in the supervision and training of pharmacy technician personnel. also identify, prevent, assess, and resolve medication-related problems to ensure safe and optimal patient outcomes, and promote, through criteria based protocols, clinically rational drug therapy and sound pharmaceutical care. Prepare and present data on formulary utilization and noncompliance. Prepare for presentation Antibiotic utilization summaries for customers.
