Daily Duties at Stewart Enterprises, Inc:

As Director of Administration, I had three administrative supervisors, three customer service staff and the receptionist reporting directly to me. There were over 40 administrative staff reporting to the supervisors. I was responsible for the reviewing of procedures using audit checklist, reviewing of job descriptions for current employees and new hire, reviewing contracts (funeral and cemetery) to ensure compliance with laws and company policies, monitor the number of cemetery property spaces being added through the property setup group, verifying that all available inventory was in the company computer program (HMIS), safeguarding payments received and the timeliness of their deposits, ensure that contracts are coded and scan timely to ensure booking and revenue recognition, review the various services logs are updated daily and accurate, memorial are designed and ordered timely, vendor reconciliation reports being reviewed to ensure that all revenue being recognized timely and items are associated with contracts and work orders, paid in full merchandise is ordered, delivered and installed timely, conduct training/coaching to all administrative staff on various company programs in order to improve baseline aptitudes/efficiencies, set and monitor goals for all administrative employees to promote employee growth and productivity, streamline/automate tasks to improve productivity and efficiencies, support and supplement existing compliance effort in the region to ensure locations are in compliance with laws and regulations, coordinate and manage administrative projects in the region (this includes identifying resources, tracking progress, and completion of project within established time frames), supervise the customer service department, negotiate contracts with vendors for the region, review all existing procedures and identify duplication of efforts and process improvements, consult with facility managers, general managers, director of operations and regional vice president regarding training needs and possible solutions, create training materials for all types of training including instructor and participant guides, visuals, self-study training materials, scripts for video production etc., review SOP for all funeral and cemetery administrative staff and update as needed, work with all administrative supervisors to ensure that the work is done timely and accurate
