Daily Duties at University Of Pennsylvania School Of Medicine:

Core Responsibilities: Learn neuropathological diagnostics, protein and lipid biochemical methods, quantitative immunohistochemistry, and microscope imaging methods suitable for human postmortem studies. Conduct original research with newly learned methods on brain tissue from Alzheimer’s disease cases and animal models of that disorder. Collect, analyze, and publish research findings. Present research findings at local and national meetings. Write and illustrate published reports on those findings. Additional Tasks Undertaken: In addition to the core tasks identified above, I performed others. I served as a brain autopsy leader; developed methods for more sensitive detection of immunohistochemical signals in human postmortem brain tissue; organized a national symposium on insulin signaling in the brain; and learned NIH guidelines for animal care and grant writing.
