Daily Duties at 1996 2001 Willamette Industries:

Willamette Industries 3 Years –Shipping Department My role in the shipping department was to control the flow of how many loads of finished goods arrived to shipping department from the production. My responsibilities were to load the trailers, unload the trailers contact the truck drivers to bring in full loads and take away empty trailers. I would load trailers with finished goods and send them to different states. I would be unloading the trailers and first thing I would prioritize unloading per standard work for critical shipments. I would make sure to secure trailer by engaging the dock lock on using wheel chalks, then move dock plate into place, because safety is number one priority for me and my team. During an unloading I would enter a trailer and remove product, then identify if product is “mixed” or “full” skid. Also I work with driver to determine the number of pallets to be unloaded from LTL trailer. Also if it is full pallet product is staged in the closest open area to the unloading trailer. Any damages noticed during this process should be noted on the delivery receipt. If I noticed any damaged goods arrived in our facility I would contact the supplier about damaged goods. If it is mixed load I would placed product on the open rollers to receive it later after iam done unloading a trailers. If no rollers are open the product is placed in the front of the rollers. Any damaged products noticed during this process should be noted on the delivery receipt. I would continue until the trailer is empty. In the next process I would ensure that the pallets have been unloaded and placed in the proper staging areas. Next I would ensure that all shortages and damages have been noted on the delivery receipt, and sign the delivery receipt, but not before I check every load and count them, check for quality then return the signed sheet to the truck driver. Next in the process I would release trailer, remove the dock plate, release the dock door, and also sometimes the truck driver will do this. During unloading I would make sure that receipt from carrier is collected on the forklift clip board and filled in receiving dock fill cabinet at the end of the day. Then continue the next trailer to be unloaded. At the end of an unloading process I would call truck driver or dispatcher to put up the next dropped trailer. In the shipping department I would enter in excel sheet all the loads that come from production lines. My job responsibility was to catch mistakes on the boxes to check for bad colors, boxes not glued together, current paperwork, etc. My job responsibility in the shipping department was to guide my team to deliver finished goods to logistics, deal with finance, customers and suppliers through the telephone conversations, consensus, and team work to solve problems in the shipping department.
