Daily Duties at New Jersey State Parole Board:

In 2010, I was approached by management and asked to become involved in the current job responsibilities. I evaluate and respond to, on behalf of the Parole Board, formal appeals by Attorney’s and inmates questioning a decision of the Board (usually to being denied parole release). The position requires me to read and determine if the appellant presents a situation for which they can be granted another hearing. Must review each for factual and legal sufficiency, analyze prior administrative case law, and prepare recommendations to the Board. The summaries are prepared for adoption of the full Parole Board as an official Agency pronouncement. These summaries are researched and written under statutory time constraints, requiring through, but diligent effort. The average monthly workflow is approximately 160 appeals divided among 6 Officers, with an average personal output of 30 to 40 cases per month. Currently, working with minimal supervision. Have a diplomatic and tactful working relationship with Executive staff, other professionals, and non-professionals. Account for and produce monthly production reports. The current position requires very detailed and accurate research, analysis, and responses, as this is the final administrative avenue for appeal before requiring Court intervention.

What they like about New Jersey State Parole Board:

The social vibrance of a hiring firm is very important to you. Your ability to make and maintain friendships there is a critical part of your decision. You would likely be dissatisfied with a workplace that is quiet, cold, or otherwise not particularly social. When you investigate a new hiring company, ask recruiters, managers, and potential co-workers about the social life and opportunities there. This is especially important when you are relocating; moving dramatically alters your social sphere both inside and outside the workplace.
