Daily Duties at State Farm Fire & Casualty Company:

I was hired into the Company specializing in first party property losses. I acquired experience in handling water losses, fire and theft claims for both personnel and commercial lines. Daily tasks included researching values, acquiring statements; estimating structure repair values via Xactimate program; resolving personal property and time element losses; and determining total values for building loss claims. I was promoted to a Claim Specialist handling third party claims after 2 years of exceptional reviews, training and education. My success as a casualty rep is attributed to my exceptional communication and negotiation skills. As a casualty rep, I would investigate, analyze and assess pertinent loss information. I would identify liability exposures and damages to evaluate and settle litigated and non-litigated claims. Held responsibility for witness interview, legal research, status reporting, litigation management, value determiniations, settlement negotiation, subrogation and coverage resolution. Experienced to handle most advanced and complex claims issues such as defense and indemnity coverage issues; mold litigation; personal injury; wrongful death and advertising injury losses. Served as a Mentor and resource to assist in training of new claim reps. Prepared literally hundreds of reports for Claim Committee authority based upon the complex nature and values in my claim inventory. Prepared numerous reports for Home Office authority including requests for authority to file Appeals. Negotiated all offers of settlement directly with plaintiff counsel as required by the Company. Represented the Company at all Mediation, Arbitrations, Mandatory Settlement Conferences and court appearances. Managed litigated files through Trial and Appeal where warranted. NOTE: the Daily Tasks as a Casualty Rep also included the same tasks as outlined in my position with Allied/Nationwide.

What they like about State Farm Fire & Casualty Company:

A hiring company that offers alternative approaches to pay, performance bonuses, and/or equity in the firm is very attractive to you. You're generally less interested in working for an organization offering only traditional, salary-based compensation, one with limited opportunity to acquire equity in the firm, or one that does not actively promote skill development. In addition, you are more likely to choose a company that offers a variety of internal career options, with defined career paths. You view the learning of new skills and development of your expertise as key to your career advancement. These aspects of an organization may become even more important to you as you progress in your field, and are especially critical if you change career or occupation.
