Daily Duties at Washington University School Of Medicine:

As research assistant to the COGA project (Collaborative Study On the Genetics of Alcoholism)my role was to conduct in depth patient intake interviews used for statistical analysis. These interviews lasted from one to multiple hours. I also conducted neuro-psychological testing, and performed a blood draw for genetic analysis. I was involved with all aspects of the study including recruitment of participants and also finding relatives of participants via search methods such as internet search. In addition we also performed routine follow up interviews. Participated in monthly meetings with members of research team which included MDs, PhD's and other members of the team.

What they like about Washington University School Of Medicine:

You give high priority to hiring firms with prestige. Market reputation and prestige of a firm may be determined through on-line research, and conversations with individuals working in your target industry. Note that firms "in the public eye" receive a great deal more critical publicity and attention than those operating with more anonymity. So as you assess your employment opportunities, be sure to seek out the positive aspects of the firm's reputation in addition to noting negative publicity the company may have received.
