Daily Duties at University Of California, Berkeley:

• Directed the activities and daily operations for UC Berkeley housing facilities, a broad functional area comprised of 240 geographically dispersed buildings and approximately 3 million square feet. • Managed central maintenance operations, custodial services, minor capital projects, grounds, steam plant, design services, and trades. Robert Oehler-Page 2 of 2 • Administered long-term planning related to renovations, space allocation, and furniture and equipment procurement plans. • Supervised seven direct reports and indirectly supervised 297 represented and non-represented career staff, 109 limited term and seasonal employees, and approximately 175 student employees. • Coordinated 17 distinct operating budgets associated with 8 operational components totaling $25 million annually with an additional five million dollars budgeted each year for minor capital expenditures. • Developed policy related to: budgetary protocols, sustainable procurement and construction, work order flow, inventory management, vendor selection, and health and safety standards. • Oversaw front desk operations and conference services in all University owned housing. Directed contract agreements, space use/allocation, and physical assignments. • Direct emergency & crisis planning for operations--served as EOC (Emergency Operations Center) Director. • Special assignments: Chancellor’s Advisory Committee on Sustainability, Pandemic (Flu) Planning Task Force, Post Disaster Business Recovery Task Force, Campus Green Committee, Comprehensive Training Program, Leadership Development Institute, Ergonomic Enhancements Program.
