Studied the effects of FIZZ1 on the molecular and functional properties of macrophages. Prepared and sterilized buffers for daily use in experiments. Cloned and expressed murine FIZZ1 protein in a mammalian cell line. Purified murine FIZZ1 protein using immobilized metal affinity chromatography (IMAC), gel filtration chromatography and ion exchange chromatography. Daily performed molecular biology procedures: Bradford assay, gel electrophoresis, western blot, enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISAs), DNA extraction and purification, semi-quantitative polymerase chain reaction (PCR). Administered purified FIZZ1 protein to rabbits intrafootpad to generate antibodies against FIZZ1. Retrieved blood from rabbits and purified anti-FIZZ1 antibodies. Analyzed and brainstormed experimental data with supervisor daily. Made and presented powerpoint slides of work in progress.
