Daily Duties at Spartan Express, Inc:

Successfully managed Human Resources function for 3500+ Employee Company with over 70 locations. Directed the personnel, employee relations, training and education, leadership development, benefits, insurance, workers compensation, and safety areas. Responsible for Affirmative Action, labor coordination, group health plan administration, personnel polices and procedures, drug and alcohol program, and legal compliance. Operation management of 40 terminals and four regions. Directed all areas of terminal operations including P & D, dock, office, linehaul, and sales support, Profit and loss responsibility for $60 million + revenue operation. Managed all operations and sales in the company’s largest operating region. Duties included overseeing the operation of three breakbulk terminals and managing 20 sales representatives. Accomplishments include planning for major expansion that doubled the size of company, developed productivity systems to improve performance, designed and implemented Spartan’s first computerized linehaul dispatch system. Spartan Express merged with Viking Freight in 1988.
